Smyril Line Interior Project – Lighting the Seas

The Smyril Line interior project by Design By Us revitalizes the ferry Norröna, which sails between the Faroe Islands, Denmark, and Iceland.
As part of the 2020/21 modernization, our lighting designs were added to the restaurant, cabins, and suites. From the start, the goal was to give passengers a warm and stylish travel experience across the North Atlantic.

A Modern Travel Experience

This interior project shows how lighting can transform a ferry intomore than transportation.
With a combination of functionality and creativity, the Norröna becomes a floating space of comfort and Scandinavian elegance. Moreover, the design supports Smyril Line’s vision of offering both efficiency and hospitality.

Restaurant Lighting Design

To enhance dining, the project introduced the Wanted Wall Lamp, the Ballroom Table Lamp, and the Ballroom Chandelier. The stunning gold shade of the Wanted Wall Lamp adds a dynamic play of light and shadow. In contrast, the Ballroom lamps provide a soft, elegant glow.
Together, they create a cozy yet refined setting where travelers enjoy both atmosphere and taste.

Suites and Cabin Atmosphere

In the suites, New Wave lamps and Shahin table lamps bring warmth and character. The New Wave Optic Wall Lamps act as stylish highlights. In the cabins, the Rose-colored New Wave Optic Wall Lamps pair with Shahin Table Lamps as elegant nightlights. As a result, passengers can relax in calm surroundings after a long day at sea.

In conclusion, the Smyril Line interior project demonstrates how lighting design can shape memorable journeys. By balancing creativity with practicality, every space on board feels inviting—whether for dining, resting, or simply enjoying the voyage.
